ECOSPHERE Canada’s mission is to provide information and raise awareness about the many environmental challenges we face collectively. At the same time, we offer sustainable solutions to reduce our ecological footprint. The goal of this largest environmental event in Quebec is to create a place where people come together and share information and knowledge. In addition, we showcase alternative products, services, organizations and technologies that improve our health and that of the planet. Together, we can change the world!

Involvement

ECOSPHERE Canada gives back to organizations that work hard to help change and improve the world. Each organization received between $2,500 and $5,000 in donations.Here is the list of organizations:

Foire ECOSPHERE was rated a level-2 event based on the BNQ responsible event management standard (2013), in partnership with the Quebec Council of sustainable events (CQEER).

ECOSPHERE Canada is committed to reducing waste, using compostable tableware, educating visitors on the importance of individual responsibility when it comes to environmental issues, choosing eco-concerned suppliers, collaborating with local and fair trade businesses, working with social and environmental organizations, and purchasing carbon credits.

The Team

With more than 200 exhibitors and 40 conferences, ECOSPHERE Canada is Quebec’s largest environmental event. Our aim is to bring together major players in the environment and sustainable development fields with the aim to help people learn about ways and products that can help change our lifestyles.

Since 2006, people of various talents have joined forces to plan and develop environment and ecological construction fairs. ECOSPHERE Canada was founded by Dominique LaRoche, Patricia Kelly and Éric Ferland. Their talent and motivation and that of the Team and numerous volunteers are the reasons behind the durability and continuous growth of ECOSPHERE Canada.

Éric Ferland: General Director

General Manager and Founding Member

Former leader of the Green Party of Quebec, he co-organized the Frelighsburg Festiv’Art (24,000 visitors in two days) and the Pierre Gauvreau and Janine Carreau exhibit at the Frelighsburg Art Centre. A Frelighsburg Municipal Councillor for 12 years, he implemented a recycling infrastructure, collaborated to regulations on logging and promoted an architecture integration and management program. He is a founding member of the Brome-Missisquoi Friends-of-the-Earth organization and of the Cowansville local solidarity market (www.marchecowansville.org). In 2008, Éric was named “Eco All Star” by the Harrowsmith Countrylife magazine.

Board of Directors

France Levert: President

Ms. Levert is a specialist in environment and sustainable development. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning.

She has held various positions at Hydro-Québec as a manager and specialist in the fields of the environment, sustainable development, stakeholder relations, corporate social responsibility and sustainable communities.

She chairs the Board of Directors of the Network of Women in the Environment, the Advisory Committee of the Quebec Council of Eco-Responsible Events and the Board of Directors of the Quebec Action Fund for Sustainable Development.

Aubert Michaud: Vice-president

A soil and water conservation scientist at the Institut de recherche et de développement en agroenvironnement (IRDA), he works with his team to identify and develop tools to fight the diffuse contamination process of surface water in agricultural areas. Monitoring streams, geomatics, remote sensing and hydrological modelling are the main tools they use in a concerted action on the small watershed level. A tireless whitewater paddler and avid off-the-slopes skier, Aubert truly puts his money where his mouth is. He has been a resident of Quebec City for the last 27 years.

Andréanne Larouche: Secretary

Born in the beautiful Brome-Missisquoi region, Andréanne has always been an environment enthusiast. After studying journalism, politics and communications, she worked with Brome-Missisquoi MNA Christian Ouellet, who was first a Bloc Québécois spokesman on Natural Resources, then deputy spokesperson on the environment. Andréanne currently holds a Communication Manager position for an event planning company while pursuing her environmental activism as a member of the Ecosphere Board since 2011.

Brigitte Blais: Treasurer

Brigitte Blais has been working at the Estrie Regional Environmental Council since the spring of 2018 as a consultant in communications and greenhouse gas management. She has been working in this field since the mid-1990s, but also in file analysis and report writing, notably at the Régie de l’énergie where she represented the AQLPA. In 2017, she completed a graduate training course in Sustainable Carbon Management (UQAC). Ms. Blais has been on the Board of Directors of the ÉCOSPHÈRE Group since 2016 and lives in Magog.

Benoît Ouellette: Administrator

A proud volunteer for 8 years, Benoît is now a member of our Team. His environmental and humanitarian awareness prompts him to be on a constant lookout for new sustainable development technologies.

Farida Sam: Administrator

Farida is an engineer and a member of the Technical Association for the Building Mechanics Industry and Solar Energy Quebec (ESQ). She has held several positions in a renewable energy research framework in North Africa.

Selma Vorobief: Administrator

Research and Evaluation Advisor

Claude Trépanier: Administrator

Within Habitat Multi Generations, Claude Trépanier develops and manages affordable housing projects on the outskirts of major centers, which promotes access to property while revitalizing small rural municipalities.

Noémie Albert: Administrator

Noémie is the coordinator for eco-friendly event management at Enviro Éduc-Action, an organization working in the Outaouais in the broad field of eco-citizenship. She represents Enviro Éduc-Action on the Board.
